Description
Tony Dixon’s aluminum range of whistles feature thick-walled aluminum bodies, polymer headjoints and brass tuning slides.
The thick-walled aluminum body adds a touch of brightness and solidness to the tone when compared to Tony’s all polymer models.
The type of polymer used for the headjoint is a plastic material that enjoys similar tonal characteristics to wood but doesn’t require the constant care and maintenance.
The tone of Tony’s whistles could generally be described as pure, mellow, sweet and slightly “chiffy”, their volume as on the quiet side but not too quiet. Being as such they are equally at home when played around the house, at a small session or when mic’d for stage or studio.
About Tony Dixon
Tony Dixon from Devon, England has made quite a name for himself over the last few years with his wide range of whistles, flutes and “Duos” (one body with interchangeable whistle and flute head joints). Being an accomplished musician, Tony doesn’t let an instrument out of his workshop that he wouldn’t be happy playing himself. That attitude combined with efficient manufacturing processes allows Tony to offer instruments that sound “like a million bucks” yet cost much, much less!
