Reyburn Irish Whistles are Handmade by Ronaldo Reyburn in Ashland, Oregon. They are available in a variety of keys. Head-joints on the Low G, Bb, C, D & Eb are constructed from Delrin™, a premium polymer material that is impervious to moisture. Head-joints on the low F and low D models are handcrafted from Eastern Rock Maple and feature a hand-rubbed finish that not only coats the surface but penetrates deep into the cellular structure of the wood rendering it extremely strong and stable. Bodies are constructed from premium brass tubing and feature bore perturbations for proper intonation across the octaves.
The High D model is available in two different bore sizes - Session and Narrow-Bore. The Session is for those needing a loud whistle to play in large sessions while the Narrow Bore has a slighter / sweeter tone best suited for solo and smaller group play.
The Low D model available in two bore sizes as well. The standard and recommended model has a relatively narrow bore yet still has a strong low end and quick response. The tone is warm and plays sweet and easy in the upper register. A larger bore model is also available for those wishing a louder whistle.
These instruments by Ronaldo Reyburn are exquisitely made, by a craftsman who clearly puts his soul into his work. And the results of his tireless quest for the perfect sound are evident in the pure, strong ,singing tone of his whistles. Played alone they are responsive, rich and nuanced, satisfying the desire of a player for an instrument that will go where the imagination dictates. In a session they are quite loud, but never shrill, always very present, but with a whole, round tone full of character. These instruments are a superb choice for a player who takes music seriously.

Special Option on Low D Whistles: Offset Hole Spacing
Low D whistles, as well as most low whistles, require what is known as "Piper's Grip" to play them effectively. When using this technique, you play "flat-fingered", covering the holes with the flats of your fingers instead of the tips. Generally when using this technique the 3rd and 6th holes are covered with the second pad of your fingers. Even still, those with very small hands using pipers grip may still have difficulty covering the holes properly. To this end, Reyburn offers an offset hole spacing which places the 3rd and 6th holes so that they may be instead played with the pinky finger.
If your wondering about what we personally recommend, Blayne, our founder has medium to medium-small hands and is able to play pipers grip on all low D whistles with no problem. This offset option is best suited for folks who have already given piper's grip a good "college try" and are looking for an alternative solution.
