Just got the Dixon Trad whistle in Nickel for free for signing up with Blayne's online teaching program (which I highly recommend!). I am literally "blown" away by this whistle. It has a nice moderate volume--very easy on the ears during solo playing or practice--this is the 1st whistle I've ever played that didn't get too loud or shrill on the high A & B notes! Unbelievable! I'm sure this little gem would also blend just fine in a small session. The tunable head joint is real plus (no more softening glue in hot water) and the tone is pure, focused, and mellow, with just a hint of chiff. It's just a pleasure to play! (Posted on 11/14/11)
