From the Publisher

Like its companion, AIRS FOR PAIRS, this book contains twenty-one tunes from Britain and Ireland. The first book contains some of the most popular traditional tunes which, the editor feels, should have a place in the repertoire of all musicians who reside in these islands, whatever their chosen specialization. This second book contains more of this core repertoire, but also has some interesting older tunes as well as some more recent music composed in traditional idioms. The balance here is weighted a little more in favour of the slower tunes – for no particular reason. As in the first book the harmonies have been written not to be easy or difficult, but to be musical. I would like to thank Stewart Hardy for playing them all through with me and making many valuable suggestions which I have been pleased to include.

Suggested bowings are included in the arrangements. These will work perfectly well, but there are of course other possibilities and personal familiarity with one or another of the native idioms is always a better guide than written instructions. The music is playable on instruments other than violin, and some of the tunes derive specifically from piping and harping, as well as fiddling traditions.

Testimonials

I have to commend you, this level of personal customer service is rare, very rare. I am an avid musician, and a fiercely proud Irish-american. Count on repeat business from me for all of my instrument and other Irish items needs.
- Randy

My coworker is a musician who has developed an interested in Irish music. I told him I played the tin whistle, (I also play mandolin and recorder), he asked me to get him a 'nice' tin whistle. I recently purchased two Feadog Tin Whistles in D, a black one for him and a green one for me, from your website. These whistles are just what I expected, fine Irish instruments. We are both very pleased with these whistles. I own two other whistles, a Walton and a Tipperary. This will be a nice addition to the collection. I am interested in learning to play the Low Whistle in D. I am considering the Tony Dixon Irish Whistle & Flute Duo. I told my wife "you can never have too many whistles". Thank you for providing great instruments at great prices. There's now one more whistle player in the world. It has been a pleasure doing business with you. This Irishman looks forward to purchasing more whistles for you in the future. Sláinte
